RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES - KANSAS CITY
On any given night, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City (RMHC-KC) serves 94 families. RMHCKC alleviates the worry and expense of finding a close, comfortable and affordable place for a family to stay while their child receives the life-saving medical care they need. This makes a world of difference to a child bravely battling an illness or recovering from a serious injury.

I’ve been working with RMHCKC for nearly ten years. The work I’ve gotten to do has been so meaningful to me whether concepting for Trent Green, or designing a t-shirt in Spanish for the first time, they are one of my favorite charities in Kansas City and a client to whom I can confidently say has helped me grow as a designer and a partner to my clients.

 Trent Green Charity Golf Tournament

I’ve been working on the Trent Green Golf Tournament for six years or so now, and I’ve enjoyed each year providing a fresh take on a long established golf tournament. In last two years, I’ve also gotten the privilege of working with the Julie Green Pickle ball tournament having created the look and feel in 2023.

From printed invitations, Valentine’s Day cards and brochures, to program branding, internal signage and apparel RMHCKC leans on me for small projects from time to time.

FIRE FOUNDATION
The FIRE Foundation, an independent charitable organization that raises money to help partnered Catholic schools hire educators, paraprofessionals, acquire learning materials and technology to create successful learning experiences for students with Down syndrome, significant learning disabilities, and those who need significant learning support. FIRE also provides professional development opportunities on a range of inclusive education topics for educators.

Without grants from FIRE, most schools would not be able to accommodate inclusive learning environments, giving these kids the ability to go to school in a more diverse learning environment. I have been working with FIRE for nearly five years and cherish their willingness to have some fun with the materials and have a lightness and even sense of whimsy to their events. One thing FIRE knows how to do is throw a party, and I’ve been lucky to work along side my client helping to make these events come to life.

PURSES WITH PURPOSE

CONCEPTING • design • ART DIRECTION • illustration • production

Purses with Purpose is the second major fundraising event for FIRE Foundation. Held in June, this ladies only event plays on a woman’s premier accessory, her handbag. Designer bags are donated or purchased by sponsors and auctioned off to support scholarships for students. Held at unique locations in Kansas City or private residences, the event themes each year are a key factor in their appeal. Boasting everything from a female DJ to signature cocktails, local vendor boutique and an incredible amount of items to be silent auctioned.

Designing for this event always brings out my most fun feminine energy. Whether we are playing off trending topics or remote locations, working on Purses is my most fun event of the season.

FIRE BALL

Fire Ball is the season ending gala for FIRE Foundation each year. Like Purses with Purpose, each event plays up a unique theme. The last two years have raised nearly 1.5M for inclusive Catholic education.

Road Trip Wedding

The year was 2012, vintage and thrifting was not yet the trending topic it is now, but I am thankful I didn’t use mason jars as glasses. Our vintage road trip themed wedding was inspired by the first several years of roadtripping as vacations the way a young broke couple would at that time. Gas was cheap, AirBnb didn’t exist so hotels and actual bed and breakfasts were still a thing, and so we picked a location straight out of those trips, and leaned into our love of travel and conversation.
We took over Weston, MO for a weekend, and bused our best people out to celebrate. The venue is privately owned by local Kansas City design shop Willoughby Design.

For the invitations, I had a lot of fun playing into the travel aspect of it. The vintage suitcase boxes were custom ordered from Etsy. My invitations were printed on Paper Source cardstock with metallic gold ink printed at a local printer, everything else was designed and printed by myself. I had a custom stamp made for additional details, and used vintage postcards as a guest book.
