EVIDENCE OF A LIFE OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
Guest critique for Avila University’s Web II class - Dec. 2020
Working with students
A few years after I graduated I got asked to come back to my alma mater and review portfolios for the senior showcase. I was not only honored to be invited so soon after graduating, but I continued to be invited for the next six years. Later, I was invited to guest lecture and continued to portfolio review for other schools. in 2018, I accepted an offer to teach a semester long Web I class. I find such inspiration looking at student work and talking to them about what they see their careers being, or how design has changed. It continues to be a passion of mine more than a decade later.
AD AGENCY DIARIES, AN OFFICE SECRET
When I started my career, I kept a word doc of funny comments and would read them in staff meetings. On some random day, I can’t recall who, thought it would be a funny twitter account and ad agency diaries was born.
The ad world is full of random strings of words that can be funny head-scratchers to the outsider, and a side-eyed snicker to those who get it. So I started a secret Twitter account for when I hear particularly good out-of-context-comments or conversations around the office. Shhh.
#Thegreatbaldwinadventures
My first plane ride was a seven and a half hour flight to Amsterdam airport for a layover to Munich in junior high. Nine days later we left from Paris and my love of travel was born. Whether it’s multi-day road trip, a 3o min flight to Chicago or a four hour train ride through Italy I’m always packed. My thirst of adventure and culture it seems cannot be quenched and I’m 100% okay with that. I’m always researching my next discovery, or happy to talk travel tips over a drink.
